Why is it called EV60?
On January 1, 2023 EC changed the names of sanctioned competition divisions for Eventing to include
reference to their maximum jump height. For example, Preliminary is now EV110. The EV stands for
‘eventing’ and 110 refers to the 110cm (or 1.10 metre) maximum specification for the jumps. This new
development division running in Ontario is subject to a maximum jump height of 60cm (.60 m) and to be
consistent with EC’s new competition division names and avoid confusion, in the context of EC
sanctioned events, we call it EV60.
What rules will govern the EV60 division?
Ontario’s EV60 division will be run consistent with the OEA’s EV60 (Starter) Division: Guidelines and in accordance with EC Rules.
Will there be a leaderboard?
The OEA has established a leaderboard and will offer year-end awards for EV60 (Jr. and Sr.).
Which venues will be offering the division in 2023?
In 2023, the EV60 division will be offered at 11 HTs, by the following 7 Ontario venues:
Bronte Creek Equestrian Centre HTs 1 & 2 (Carlisle)
Cherrylane HTs 1 & 2 (Puslinch)
Glen Oro Summer HTs (Jarratt)
Glenarden HTs 1& 2 (Fergus)
Stevens Creek Farm HTs 1 & 2 (Ottawa)
Wesley Clover Parks Ottawa Horse Trials (Ottawa)
Wits End HT (Town of Mulmur).

What memberships are required to compete at the EV60 level?
Participation in EC sanctioned events at the EV60 level requires the following memberships:
Equestrian Canada (EC), Bronze;
Ontario Equestrian (OE);
Ontario Eventing Association (OEA).

Which dressage test will EV60 entries be asked to ride?
The OEA’s EV60 (Starter) Division: Guidelines state that the dressage
phase of EV60 “should test a rider’s ability to pilot and control the horse at all three gaits: walk, trot and
canter.” Organizers have opted to choose from between Test 1 and Test 2 (coming soon) of EC’s new 2023 EV85 (previously Entry) Eventing Dressage tests. Please refer to EC’s Eventing Omnibus
for information on which Test will be set for EV60 at each individual HT in Ontario.

OEA EV60 Special Incentives
The OEA has put in place the following incentives to encourage riders to try the new EV60 division:
We will waive the $15 fee for an OEA day membership for any rider entering EV60 in 2023 who
is not already a full OEA member. To comply with EC rules, a simple day membership form must
still be completed for each HT, but no fee will be attached. OEA day membership forms are
available here [link to the updated OEA day membership form] and should be sent to the
Secretary by email when you enter.
Please note: that only full members are eligible for OEA’s provincial year-end awards and entries
that opt to use our day membership are typically not awarded points. For the 2023 season, we
will offer riders who take advantage of the EV60-OEA-day-membership incentive the
opportunity to join the OEA as a full member at any time during the season and we’ll apply any
points that would have been collected, retroactively. This ensures qualification for the EV60
leaderboard and year-end awards in 2023.
If and when additional incentives are offered to encourage Ontario eventers to get involved in
our sport at the EV60 level, we will load them on this site, so stay tuned!
