Divisions and Specifications

OEA’s sanctioned competitions offer a wide variety of divisions available to suit the experience level of different horses and riders.

GOLD:           

  1. Advanced (EV120);
  2. FEI CCI 4*
  3. Intermediate (EV115)
  4. FEI CCI 3*
  5. Preliminary (EV110)
  6. FEI CCI 2*

SILVER:           

  1. EV105
  2. FEI CCI 1*
  3. Training (EV100)

BRONZE:       

  1. Pre-Training (EV90)
  2. Entry (EV85)
  3. Pre-Entry (EV78)
  4. Starter (EV60)

Levels from Entry (EV85) to Advanced (EV120) are controlled by either Equestrian Canada of the FEI (CCI1*-CCI 4*). Where governed by Equestrian Canada, they are run consistent with Rules of Equestrian Canada Section D (Eventing) with divisional specifications published in:

“Local Divisions”

Under Equestrian Canada Rules, organizers may hold one or more “Local” divisions subject to Bronze sanctioning provided that the specs for these divisions don’t exceed those of the “Entry” division (Art D301[2.88]). Both Starter (EV60) and Pre-Entry (EV78) are “Local” divisions, which aim to make introductory eventing simple, encouraging, and enjoyable for inexperienced horses and riders.

  1. “Local” divisions must be conducted as EC Bronze competitions.
  2. An EC accredited Technical Delegate is obligatory.
  3. The Starter (EV60) and Pre-Entry (EV78) divisions must be listed in the EC’s Canadian Eventing Omnibus with other divisions.
  4. “Local” divisions are open to horses of four years of age and up and riders of all ages.

Ontario’s Starter (EV60) and Pre-Entry (EV78) divisions will be run in accordance with EC’s Rules and consistent with the following Guidelines.

Medication Control: The OEA wants to remind its members that along with Equestrian Canada (EC) and Ontario Equestrian (OE), the OEA has zero tolerance for unauthorized drug use by Riders or Horses at any EC sanctioned competitions. The penalty for any positive drug test received by any horse or rider competing at an EC sanctioned competition is laid out in EC general regulations Article 1010. All matters related to medication control for both horse and rider can be found in EC general regulations Article 1001.
