Thoroughbred Incentive Program - T.I.P

The OEA is pleased to continue its partnership with the Jockey Club’s Thoroughbred Incentive Program (T.I.P.) in 2023!

The T.I.P. was created to encourage the retraining of thoroughbreds into other disciplines once they have completed their careers in racing, offering incentives to pursue excellence in a second career. It’s no secret that OTTBs make some of the best eventing partners and if you ride a Registered thoroughbred you can qualify to participate in the T.I.P. and compete for ribbons and prizes furnished by the Jockey Club.

Awards will be given out for High Point and Reserve High Point in all divisions at all sanctioned Ontario Horse Trials in 2023.

By signing up you may also be eligible for the new-in-2023: Year-End Championship Award. The Championship will offer prize money and is open to qualified and declared horses. For more information on how to qualify visit: https://tjctip.com/About/CSI

Eligibility

To participate in the Program, owners and riders must obtain a T.I.P. number and make sure that it is included on their entries to EC-sanctioned OEA Horse Trial in 2023.

If you don’t already have one, you can obtain a T.I.P. number through The Jockey Club’s website at: https://www.tjctip.com/applytipnumber.

Your T.I.P. number is proof that your Thoroughbred is registered with The Jockey Club or a foreign Thoroughbred stud book (recognized by The Jockey Club). Unregistered Thoroughbred’s are not eligible for the Program.

Please make sure to add your T.I.P. number to your entry form through Event Entries, where there is a dedicated space for it, or by email to the Secretary of the HT that you are entering.
