If you are 21 as of January 1st, have never ridden above the Pre-Training level and are a REGULAR RIDER, then you are eligible to take part in the Novice Adult Program. OPEN RIDERS are not eligible.

Please remember you must register each year to qualify as a Novice Adult for the upcoming season. You only begin to accumulate points after you have registered.

About the Program

Novice adults compete in the Senior Entry or the Senior Pre-Training Division and will receive ribbons and points the same as all the other riders. These points will be recorded on the regular Leaderboard and count towards year-end awards. (Please note: For year end awards, the OEA only counts each horse & rider pair’s best 8 scores)

After each event Novice Adult scores are separated from the rest of the competitors and points will are awarded and recorded on a separate Novice Adult Leaderboard. Points will be awarded based on the number of Novice Adults that start in each division.

You may join the Novice Adult Program at any time during the season, but you will only begin to accumulate points once you have registered. Any points earned before this will not be counted.

At the Year-End Banquet, the top 3 Novice Adults in each division receive awards.

Novice Adult Scoring System

Novice Adult points are calculated the same way as points for all other competitors and are based on the number of Novice Adult starters in the division.  See HOW POINTS ARE CALCULATED
